Saturday night at the movies: the rise of UK drive-in cinema

Giggs and Neville launch the most expensive penthouse in the North…. The sound is great and if your sat in the front seats of the car then you have a great view but if you are sat in the back then viewing is restricted. I sat in the back to enable three teenagers to squeeze in the front of a vauxhall corsa to watch the film, two of them shared one seat but they enjoyed the whole experience and want to return. I enjoyed the experience other than waking this morning with a sore neck after crouching down to watch the movie from the back seat.

We stopped of at ASDA on route to buy goodies and a Mcdonalds, ASDA trafford park is only a short drive away so worth stopping off for goodies instead of relying on whats on offer at the cinema. If you arrive for the 4. When we left 6. If you take a pillow with you, your own goodies and dont mind sitting in the back to let the kids sit in the front and purchase via groupon it is definitely worth a visit, we will visit again. Film started late because of sound problems.

Only salty popcorn. Because of car size we got told where we had to park so no choice.

This cinema sure looks the business online. In reality, it's a movie projected onto a painted wall of a wearhouse. Our booking was made online and an email received two days later to confirm our time. Despite the drive in cinema origination in America, I'm sure the back streets of Manchester could have accommodated for the left hand vehicles more common in theses parts with a kiosk on the right hand side.

We were instructed to turn our lights off, at this point, headlights would not have affected viewing of the movie for those already parked watching the previous film option. Good job we didn't want to watch this in future as we were shown where to park and forced to watch the last 20 minutes of this film At least I know how that movie ends!! The radio was tuned to the FM frequency given at the kiosk, this worked fine and the audio was in sync with the movie. Once the previous film ended, those watching drove away. All the other people booked for our particular movie gradually edged forward and formed 4 or 5 rows of cars.

We ended up on the front row so no other cars obscured our view. So the movie starts and all is good Until it starts to rain. Hardly the fault of the cinema guys but easily fixed with the occasional turn of the key to activate the wipers. Overall, not a bad experience, a little pricey considering the cans of coke sold have 34p printed on them. Not to mention the horrid salty popcorn. Our experience was purchased via Groupon so the drinks and popcorn were included just as well because we would have brought our own food.

Not a bad night out, I suppose it was worth the 40 mile round trip. Its an amazing experience. Went as part of son's birthday. I would personally recommend front seat viewing. Backseat viewing wasn't the best. Popcorn was unavailable due to electrical problem. A 15 minute delay due to technical issues but other than that we all enjoyed the experience. Staff were lovely. Dominos takes around an hour to arrive We were really looking forward to going because we had never been to an outdoor cinema before. Our film started at 9pm so we arrived in plenty of time at around 8.

We were glad we did because the road soon started to fill up with a huge queue shortly after we got there. A lady came round to each car asking them to move over to the side of the road as lorries come down. Quite difficult to move your car when there are other cars really close behind and in front of you in the queue! As it turned out the film didn't start on time, 45 minutes late by the time everyone got in and parked.

The popcorn was way too salty and you get a 'multipack' can of coke. We brought our own chocolate :- Maybe our car just isn't suitable but we just couldn't get comfy! The film was great but I am really undecided as to whether I would go to Route 66 again.
