Important note for reviewers Based upon feedback from our members we have decided to implement a review facility on the tastecard website. Please familiarise yourselves with the below rules for placing reviews: Whilst we will not modify your review, we will monitor all reviews. As tastecard is a co-operative with our restaurants, if a restaurant objects to a review we will remove it.

Whilst this gives the restaurants the opportunity to remove any negative reviews, we will make it very clear to them that a balance of reviews will be relied upon and trusted more by our members and likely lead to more bookings for the restaurants. It is a fine balancing act between publishing as many reviews as possible and losing popular restaurants as a result of negative reviews.

This Mark Lane spot is from the Proud group - a chain perhaps best known for its live music space, Proud Camden. Keep an eye out for DJ nights, too. Food doesn't play second fiddle to the music. There's global influence, so expect Thai steamed mussels and sticky yakitori chicken skewers alongside fillet steaks served with black truffle butter, sea bass with a chilli and rosemary crust, and roasted turbot steak served with steamed samphire, salsify and hollandaise sauce.

This has got to be the be of my top disastrous night outs - Avoid!! Unfortunately the experience at proud cabaret was absolutely terrible! The food was disgusting, we found paper stuck in our steak dish and in the ice cream. The deserts we ordered where not delivered as described in the menu.

Birthday Parties at Proud Cabaret City

The service was horrendous, it took hours to bring the food and they kept on mixing and forgetting the orders. The show was poor - I wouldn't call it a cabaret show , maybe a strip show. This is a seedy little place, poorly organised, with very abysmal service which they charge extortionate service charges for , mediocre food and offering a cabaret act which is on par with Britain's got Talent. My friends and I spent a very disappointing evening at Proud Cabaret which was purchased through Living Social, offering 2 cocktails and 2 courses with a Male Burlesque Show.

We never saw the cocktails, the pre-ordered meals had to be reordered on the night and arrived 40 mins apart.

When the cabaret came on, it was so amateurish that we initially thought it was a comedy act, and were horrified to discover that this was the entertainment for the the night. Waiting staff were very few and unhelpful. I have made an official complaint, but this still has not been resolved. I had all but anticipated that I would be drunkenly dialling an Uber in the early hours having danced my socks off all night long with my oldest and newest friends at the hen do of one of my dearest friends.

We arrived to a bar with as much atmosphere as the care of the elderly ward at work, our drink on arrival turned up with our starters. Being the more sober of the group I had inadvertently taken charge of the bill, big mistake. The waitress hounded me to get every penny, starting with having to pay for the food at the start and then sorting the bar bill towards the end. Over all we arrived at a sticky floored, velvet encrusted, crammed function room, I was hounded by a waitress in a very unflattering corset, and had every last penny extracted from me, I felt so pressurised by the waitress to ensure that the bill was settled despite being only 1 of the 20 strong crowd that I had had enough.

I settled by share and quick stepped it out of there before the waitress could follow me out of there.

  • This place gets 2 stars with a stretch from me. And only because the whole absurdity of its existence cracks me up today and sometimes you need to bring together a group of people to entertain on an occasion of a birthday or a bachelorette party and you want them not to talk to each each other while seated at the opposite ends of a booth.

The performances are poorly conceived and performed, if you ask me, although some girls do have the spirit.

    3. About Proud Cabaret;

Whoever gave performances thumbs up obviously has never seen burlesque done really well. I come from Ukraine - a country with great ballet, dancing, circus and gymnastics tradition Ukraine gave the World Sergei Polunin, a mind boggling percentage of Cirque du Soleil performers, etc. Importantly, for a venue where cabaret performances are the main draw, the performances lasted negligibly short: sneeze and you miss them.

The food was at best mediocre.

Proud Cabaret Deal: 3 Course Meal + Burlesque Show - £29

Something must have gone terribly wrong in the kitchen, because they attempted to bring out our desserts immediately after the starters The sides of salads arrived with no dressing and there were no condiments on the table, but we kind of gave up as flagging any member of stuff took all the energy we had and we decided to use it the energy only when prosecco was running low. But also, if you do attempt to cheat, why add mint teas? It actually is quite funny to think of us partaking of tea in all the mayhem of a cabaret.

And then the venue turned into a club!

I think the two of us who stayed for the club night were the only white girls and over It was astonishing. Came here for a ladies lunch right before the Holidays. We were seated very quickly and the staff we very friendly although as mentioned the ladies were dressed for the boudoir! Our MC was a very funny fellow, and did some nice little numbers while mingling in the crowd.

You definitely need to be ready for a bit of tit for tat, so having a bit to drink helps. The food was nothing spectacular, although I remember the mousse stating "exploding candy" on top and when I questioned the waiter about it, he looked very confused. Still-- it was tasty. So I suggest drinking before going out drinking. We also hold contingency liability cover. Should bot charge service charge on the whole price, just what is paid as extra. I refused to pay and the waitress happily took it off, but many people after a few drink wouldn't have noticed. We went to Proud Cabaret Embankment. We had great service from the start and the evening ahead was explained well.

The compere Miss Chastity Belt was outstanding, very funny and has an amazing voice. She made the evening very special. The performers were talented and engaging. We had a table next to the stage which meant the evening also felt very intimate and there was always the possibility of interaction.

I would recommend as a great evening out as long as you are not shocked by burlesque. The show itself was great, friendly staff, OK food. The service between courses very slow. Service charges are paid on whole price, even though voucher used. Drinks very expensive.. Bottle of beer 7. The rest was service charge.
