I stop in from time to time for some cold cuts or a couple of canned goods other than that — yikes! I go to Net Cost Market on 18th, great food, everything is super fresh, great prices, oh yeah and cashiers are actually working, not talking to Laquisha 3 isles over like they do in Key Food. Pathmark used to be the premiere supermarket to shop. I know because growing up my family often would travel to various Pathmark locations to avoid the local stores. When I started to drive I would go to any Pathmark near where I was working or running errands. They immediately started closing the smaller PM stores and those that were too close to an existing Waldbaums.

However the Cropsey PM was always the oddball, ghetto store because of the trash they employed. Then you must shop there in the mornings during the week. That particular staff is actually decent. But try shopping there after 4pm during the week or anytime on a weekend and you will see a very different staff that will make you head for the hills! I am one of those people who does not trust valets, so i simply park by the school on 17th.

Side streets have plenty of space. I go there 2 times a week, honestly never had an issue parking, you just have to turn to side streets next to private houses. You can park there, grab your cart and go to Net Cost. The difference between Net Cost and everything else in the area is night and day. I honestly do not understand how and entire neighborhood can have only one quality supermarket.

Way too far to walk with a cart load of groceries, for me. I will, however, accept and thank you for your recommendation of the store itself. Maybe my wife and I can send one of the kids to walk over to Net Cost for something, and they can report back. Or if we should be strolling the avenue one day, just stop in to look, but not buy. Might change our minds.

Thank God for change! Pathmark on Cropsey has been a dump for years. Now I wont mind going there. I worked in retail, including two years at Toys R Us, through two Christmas seasons during the Cabbage Patch craze probably the most difficult and thankless job one could ever have. I understand and sympathize with retail employees. So, I smile when I go into a store.

I greet the greeters. I ask for assistance politely. Even the staff at the Cropsey PM, which is under-staffed, poorly stocked and dingy, have always been polite and kind to me. But, honestly, this plague of rude retail staff that everyone talks about has been nowhere evident in my life. Consider yourself both lucky and blessed Sean. I have worked in retail also besides my stint at the Cropsey PM.

Worse yet we had the trashiest customers.

Pathmark Store Policies

We had the highest sales in our district but also the highest amount of shortage theft. So whenever I go into any store, retail or supermarket, I also go in with a smile, greet the greeters and cashiers, say please and thank you and always read signs carefully so as to NOT have issues at the registers. BUT depending on the demographics of the store and neighborhood I am either treated well and with respect OR my family and I are stared at with scorn or disrespected. One great exception is the Kings Plaza mall.

They have really turned themselves around in the last 5 years or so and I enjoy shopping there and we are always treated well. I love Amazon but you can thank their Kindle for the closing of bookstores and the reduction in library hours especially here in the tri-state area. I know.

Pathmark to make its return

I work in publishing. Employees said their union, United Food and Commercial Workers, is trying to help them find new jobs, but they weren't optimistic about their chances because there are thousands of other Pathmark workers facing unemployment soon. Among them is Travis Wiggins, 28, who's been a butcher at Pathmark for eight years. Now he's hoping to make money as an Uber driver. Wiggins has an month-old son and his wife isn't working because she's in school to become a community health worker, he said.
