We were in rooms 3 and 4 which have there own door and foyer leading to the rooms; ideal if you have two families. The rooms are enormous and beautifully furnished, in keeping with the Hall's status, but also giving you modern amenities. It was a very cold day, but the rooms were warm and inviting, surprising for such a old building. We had a package of dinner, bed and breakfast, which included a bottle of house wine per couple. We had good intentions of using the spa, but actually never got there as the bar area was so inviting!
The evening meal was beautiful, obviously a lot of care had gone into the preparation. If I was being picky and would say that the portions were quite small and I wouldn't have been happy paying full menu prices. The maitre d' Michael, made our evening. He was quietly attentive with the right amount of humour. My brother was feeling under the weather, and had a temperature, once Michael knew this, he brought him a hot toddy, on the house.
It is kind touches like this that make visits memorable. It was a buffet, although I did see some special orders being delivered. The let down was the sausages, they were awful! Tasteless and bready, please sort them out!.

We stayed on a Saturday night on a deal that included a three course meal, bottle of sparkling wine, breakfast and spa access and were very impressed We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist and were checked in very efficiently Our room was warm spacious and spotless with a comfortable bed We dined in the restaurant and found the bar and waiting staff very friendly and hospitable, especially the restaurant manager who took time out to chat at length with us despite being busy.
The food was of excellent quality although it was a little disappointing to see two items on the main menu that carried a surcharge, one being a steak and the other duck Despite the surcharge I had the duck and enjoyed it immensely, I also paid a surcharge to have cheese and biscuits for my dessert We used the pool and steam room, the sauna was out of action, and had an enjoyable hour.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and we had a stroll around them before departing We would thoroughly recommend the hotel and the staff are a credit to it and we will definitely return. Access to the grounds is through very narrow posts so I'm not sure if anything larger than a car would fit through. The entrance to the hotel is equally awe inspiring with a wide spiral staircase giving access to the next floor. Reception was very friendly and helpful. We had a Premium Room which was quite vast, so much so that maybe it could have done with a bit more furniture.
It was fully equipped including dressing gown and slippers and the bed was very comfortable although we did notice that the mattress was turned 'Summer side up' in the middle of Winter. The only criticism was that the room was too dark and even with all the lights on my wife had difficulty putting on her make-up.
