Recently stayed at the Holiday Inn near Gatwick Airport prior to our holiday, and this Thai Restaurant came up as a suggestion when searching for a local restaurant. I must say the food was tasty, authentic, and there was a real warm welcome from staff. Reasonably priced and made better as they accepted the taste card which became buy one get one free.
Would not hesitate to return when booking my next holiday from Gatwick. I don't normally do reviews but was left feeling pretty frustrated after trying to enjoy a relaxing Saturday night at this place. Rang up at When we arrived we were told they had no record of our book on and both ladies behind the desk denied having spoken to us even though our phone record proved otherwise. This may have been tactical as I overhead the staff talking between themselves that the kitchen was too busy to take any further takeaway orders at this time.
Once ordered, for each course we ended up waiting an excessive amount of time but the main frustration came when the main courses came out in their dishes but we were not brought any plates and we had to wait a good few minutes to catch a waiters eye just to get some plates as our food that we had waited long enough for already, got cold.
The food whilst very nice was not hot enough. Portions of rice were very small considering they were 3. I had asked for a jug of water to be brought out with the drinks but this did not come and I had to ask for a second time. When it came to paying the bill I passed the lady my digital tastecard on my iPhone and instead of taking a note of the tastecard membership number whilst holding my phone.
She took my brand new iPhone out the room without asking for 5 minutes to take note of it at the reception whilst processing the bill. I thought this a very rude invasion of privacy. Overall, although the food was generally nice, the service was terrible and made for a frustrating night out from something that should have been relaxing and enjoyable.
Won't be going back. Fortunately, this restaurant was just a five minute walk from our hotel in Horley. The quality of both food and staff were very satisfactory and the bill perfectly reasonable for what we had. Fantastic authentic Thai cuisine with great service. Would come here again and I fully recommend anyone who is thinking about going to give it a try.
