Is Sparkling Hill worth it? Not really. The Good: The view is lovely, but you can get that view at many places in the Okanagan. And many places in BC have spectacular views.
The highlights are the views, the pools, and the spa rooms. But you can get those experiences at many other places in BC. The not great: The service is terrible. We heard before coming that the service and food is terrible. When we booked, we let them know we were coming for our honeymoon. We paid a premium price for a too floor, king Felix lake view room. The room they put us in was situated above the pool. Everyone in the pool could see up into our room no problem. People in the pool literally waved back at me.
Needless to say, we did not use the double bathtub that overlooked the view - because everyone would have seen us. And people were in the pool from 7 in the morning until it closed.
When I called the front desk, she acknowledged that there was no privacy in those rooms. She agreed it wasn't great for a honeymoon. She said she'd speak to the manager and call back. We didn't get a call back for 30 minutes.

I called back again - there was no record of my first call. They said they'd speak to the manager and see if there were other accommodations they could make for us. We continued to wait and we never got a call back. No one ever followed up with us. To summarize, when we booked the room we told them we were on our honeymoon. We paid a premium price for a lake view deluxe room. The room was situated over the pool, and the staff readily acknowledged to me that pool guests can easily see into the room and you can't use the bathtub because there is no privacy.
When I called twice to see if something could be done to make this right, they never followed up. It was terrible customer experience. One other small hiccup they might want to rethink: my husband had called prior to checking in if a late check-out was available, he said he was quickly rushed off the line and told it is first come first serve. When we checked in we asked what that means If you would like to inquire about a late check out, you have to call at 7 AM, the morning of your vacation, on a first come first serve basis.
I have no idea how that is geared toward a great customer experience.
The other moment that stood out was using spa services. We showed up early for our massages and no one was at the front desks.

We waited around and found someone working at the spa and they told us to go wait in the massage area. Even though we showed up 10 minutes early, the staff confusion and staff just not being around made us 10 minutes late for our massages. They refused to go over time to give us the full 60 minutes that we paid for. All these hiccups are just amateur hour. While I enjoyed the spa rooms and the pool, there are so many other areas in BC that offer those amenities, comparable prices, AND provide a great customer experience.
Sparkling Hill just acts like their customers should take what they get and anything else is an inconvenience. I would have been happy to provide constructive feedback to Sparkling Hill directly, but they never called me back when I was a guest in the hotel and they never asked me how my stay was. More importantly, I would like to sincerely apologize about the service received from our various team members. While we have many guests that enjoy our rooms overlooking the pools, we also have guests that would prefer to be located elsewhere in the resort. When discussions about changing rooms occur, they must be followed up promptly. Confusions such as the one experienced in our KurSpa have to be avoided as we want our guests to fully enjoy their services without any unnecessary stress.
Your impression of the level of service that we provide our guests with is certainly not what we want to strive for. Your feedback has been shared with the respective managers for their review with their team. It will be used as coaching and learning opportunities to make sure that no other guests have a similar experience. We sincerely hope to welcome you back to Sparkling Hill in the future!
