There is an outside area with a heated spa, just what we needed to warm up in the cold weather. The only observation, there is no view from this villa, it would be nice to have a view over the lake. There is bamboo along the back wall of the villa, but it is very private, I guess having the spa would not be as private in another room location. Food; we had three nights in the restaurant, the first night we chose from the menu, what we had was good. However, the next two nights we had the degustation, the vegetarian and non-vegetarian one as well.
These were exceptional; really sensational meals. Everyone working here was helpful, nothing was a problem.
I was a little unsure what to expect after reading some recent reviews, but everything was excellent. Our package included 3 meals each day: It was great not to think about what we were eating with lunch, it just arriving at the time we chose was great. Breakfast, which is average, the same menu as last visit. A change would be good. No fresh juice here, which is a shame. Nice fresh versions of bruschetta would be welcomed here.
Lunch, the grazing plate they delivered to us on both days was very good. The first day it was most delicious, confit duck, potato salad and a Caesar type salad with a lovely fruit platter. This was a stand out for us.
The second lunch was good too, but a little bit of a let-down after the confit duck. The potato salad on the second day was also different, which was a shame as we didnt enjoy it. We had ham and salamis, a green salad, cheese plate and a little carrot cake on this day. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, and will be back again next year for more of the same. We must congratulate the Lake House staff on coordinating a wonderful luncheon for our family and friends in the magnificent waterfront pavilion room overlooking Lake Daylesford.
Vera and Lauren coordinated with us in the lead up to the day to ensure that the event was arranged as we wished, but also guiding us in the choices of food, wine and decorations to maximise the enjoyment of all attendees. On the day, we were delighted with the presentation of the room, including the table, decorated with beautiful posies of spring time flowers by their in house floral stylist, Denise.
The delicious canapes and champagne on arrival were followed by a wonderfully presented 5 course tasting menu with our selected wines. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all our guests, despite very varied tastes, with thorough consideration being given to the individual dietary requirements of some of our guests. We were also fortunate to spend the weekend in their beautiful Sutton Suite, complete with a wonderful sitting area and fireplace.
This allowed our group to party on after leaving the waterfront room, well supported by the housekeeping and restaurant staff. Over the past 20 years, we have spent a number of relaxing weekends at the Lake House, quietly celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Christmas Day has also been a treat. We therefore chose The Lake House as the venue for this special occasion.
