Oh, my husband said his chicken dish was almost cold. I swear, I'm thinking, oh good great German food. Nope, sorry it wasn't.

We were just there this past weekend. What a delight to find this local, authentic, old fashioned German restaurant in a neighborhood just across River from downtown. German beers on tap. Traditional German menu. Decent wine. We loved the schnitzel, spaetzel, potato pancakes, homemade apple butter, sweet and sour cabbage.

The sauerbraten was a disappointment, but the Black Forest Cake was delicious! Popular with locals and their families, I wish there were more of this type of establishment in the US. Music, atmosphere, it's all good. The food can be very good or awful. The veal dishes, are quite good, especially the jager schnitzel, and the potato pancakes are excellent, have them with the sauerbraten gravy. The spatzle is also decent. The atmosphere is very casual and authentic. It is not a place for a formal dinner, but for a nice casual one with friends or family. This is German comfort food.

I love their hot pretzels, their sausage platter.

Applesauce done right spatzel red cabbage and apple salad. Not to forget the apple strudel and the German beer.

Ah I don't have that but what hotel do you work at? You're kidding! I'm so mad I leave for the beach tonight! I did see that if you go in September and keep your receipt you get in free next time. It's nice because no kids and the kind of people that would spend a Friday night at the science center aren't too rowdy.
