We arrived on Saturday 12th October to a queue that other guests referred to as like Butlins I had to agree.

Not ideal! We tried to make the most of the pool but was disappointed and the pool area was in need of repair paint peeling etc. Our new room was just as poor quality and freezing cold we had to call down and was advised in October it was set for summer when it was raining for over a week then when challenged they provided a heater from reception which was not ideal at all!

Upon arrival at the bar area they were short staffed waiting mins to get a drink and no seating area as overcrowded! Dinner was a disaster we ordered at 8. Our meal arrived at The rest of the evening went ok as we went to bed. Breakfast was appalling took over 25 to queue and good cold and just rubbish the orange juice disgusting and overall disappointing.

We wrote to complain and they agreed with everything we said and admitted the room was poor and mold was found. We have asked for a refund and now escalated to the general manager as when leaving the hotel all the boy racers from the night before were all revving engines and it just confirmed it was disaster weekend from arrival to departure - never again!!! It looks amazing outside BUT once you get to Reception that's when it goes wrong No customer service after being ignored when we arrived, couldn't find my girlfriend's booking, no directions to our room or even any information on the facilities, not even a smile! Restaurant very busy seriously lacking staff and they all looked miserable, food ok but very expensive, lots of louts about who just had the run of the hotel.

The hotel hosted a car event on the Sunday in the Arena and the attendees were young men, I am sorry their presence impacted your experience.

On arrival it looked beautiful, staff were lovely and welcoming and the rooms were perfect.

Before I start, I would just like to add that this place was also highly recommended by friends and family who were shocked to hear of our very poor experience! Anyway, got to our room and unpacked. Had a walk around and decided we would like to make use of the spa. Same issue, none available! However, all of the girls were amazing and helpful. Whilst in the spa we had the pleasure of a group of young lads walking around with a bottle of Jack Daniels and their trainers on being very loud. They even went on to film everyone in the pool as they walked by.

Anyway, fast forward to dinner However, once seated at half past we were told we are better off having the buffet as the waitresses are to busy to take our orders.

We then sat down to eat our starters, then mains and then towards the end we were asked if we would like a drink! Food was lovely, I must admit!

Fast forward to breakfast and I have to agree with everyone else that it was a lot of money for what it was. The hot food was very dry and not exactly edible so we stuck to the toast and fresh fruit. Like I said, I wished I could say I had a lovely time but it was anything but enjoyable.

It seems very poorly managed with staffing issues and clearly overbooked with a number of parties going on! It was meant to be a surprise weekend away for my other half which ended up just ended up being a comedy sketch! Thank you for reviewing your visit to Five Lakes Resort.
